I've seen so many things on the Internet that makes me believe that we could be witnessing the beginning of the 'falling away' of people who once confessed Christ as Lord , one of the things that would precede the manifestation of the anti-Christ. While this is surely a cause for concern among the children of God, I believe we should take responsibility for creating the environment that has encouraged so many people to become atheists or embrace dead religions. What is the cause of dissatisfaction with any product? Simple. When it does not meet the specific need of the person that purchased it. In the same way, most people are dissatisfied with the God they've been 'sold' because He hasn't met their expectation. This of course is the fault of mis-guided preachers who propagate a perverted gospel that's centred on self-actualisation rather than God Himself. The Scriptures are clear that Jesus was sent by the Father to deal with the malady of the soul primarily. Today, in most churches, nobody talks about repentance. In fact, I hardly ever hear the mention of heaven or the second coming of Christ in my own Church! Why are we so interested in positive thinking and motivation? If all we needed was self-actualisation, why did Jesus have to go to the cross? Are the most successful people in business today Christians? Why should an unbelieving millionaire accept Christ as Savior and Lord if business breakthrough is all that Jesus has to offer?
I believe it will help us to ask the Holy Spirit to give us understanding of the Scriptures. It will help us to keep things in perspective and prevent us from leading others astray. What did Jesus mean when He said that His Father 'makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good?' (Math 5:45) Simple. That when it comes to physical blessings that are tied to the environment, God doesn't discriminate except when He brings judgment upon an individual or a nation.
We as Christians need to repent of helping to swell the ranks of the atheists by preaching another Christ. When we tell people that God will solve all their problems once the 'give their lives to Christ', we are simply propagating falsehood. That's a perverted gospel and God will not confirm falsehood.
